Aix en Provence
If you live in Tunisia and you want a quick, easy and tasty break, I recommend a visit to Aix en Provence in Southern France. Top 10 reasons that Aix is a great place to visit while you live in Tunis.
  1. The frequent flights from Tunis to Marseille take 1 hour and 20 minutes.
  2. There is an easy fast bus from the airport to downtown Aix.
  3. You can watch movies in English at the Renoir Cinema.aixwater.jpg
  4. There is a great English Bookstore.
  5. The food and wine are great.
  6. The town is very relaxed and tourist-friendly. English is widely spoken.
  7. The weather is generally good.
  8. There are endless streets to wonder.
  9. Shopping is great (I stock up on ham, cheese, and wine but there are lots of other types of shopping).
  10. It's France!

Planning your Trip
Aix is great for a 3 or 4-day weekend. Just book your flight from Tunis to Marseille and when you arrive look for the Navette (shuttle to Aix) It takes about 30 minutes and leaves every 20 minutes.
We have been many times and the best bet is to use on –line sites to find a good deal (it is always changing). Ideally, you want something in or close to center. Three places we’ve stayed at and liked were:
Hôtel Cézanne - Hotel Aix-en-Provence (we got a great deal in the winter)
Hôtel de France (super location if you want to be right in it)
Villa Vabelle (love this place but it is only practical if you have a car)
Your best bet is to use some thing like
Spend a little time searching the Web for activities like museums, shopping, food, or whatever you fancy. You will be rewarded.
